“ Baker 89 is a cozy little spot in downtown that feels welcoming from the moment you walk in. Manav greeted me with a big smile, which set a nice tone for my visit. I tried the new crepes with fruits, and they were fantastic. The veg burger was hearty and perfectly cooked. I also highly recommend the executive chef Birendra's signature salmon salad it’s a dish you shouldn't miss. Overall, it was the best brunch I’ve had in a while. “ The Eats: Cauliflower Cheese Soup Chorizo Skillet Meat Lovers Omelette First off.... Can we talk about how cozy this place is? It reminds me of some of the really good breakfast places We used to go to when I was a kid. And you just know you're going to get a good, hardy, homestyle breakfast in a place like this. And that's exactly what we got. The omelette was full. And I mean FULL! Lots of meat, super filling and very tasty. The skillet was amazing. So much so that I only got to eat half of mine because the other half got stolen by my mom It had so many great flavors and everything married together really well. And the cheese sauce... It was like a flavor bomb. I don't know how they made it that way but I want it on everything. Now, this is going to sound weird, and is in no way meant to take away from breakfast, but we also got soup complimentary, and it might have been the best thing. I definitely want to go back on a rainy day and just eat the soup. It was so darn good! So if you're in the area, swing by downtown Cranbrook and get yourself a good old-fashioned breakfast (and maybe a soup)! ”

“ I grew up going to The Cottage with my mom for lunch. I have very fond memories of that restaurant, and when I walked in, The Baker 89 had kept that aesthetic, and nostalgic vibe the cottage once had. The chef makes an impressive breakfast! I had the crab cake benny, and it was great! REAL crab meat, and house made hollandaise, chunky hash browns that were crispy, not oily and cooked perfectly what more could you want? It was coincidentally arranged on the plate to look like a face so that's how I had to take the picture! The other guys I was with thoroughly enjoyed their breakfasts too. You even get a free cup of house made soup with every order! It was beef veg and it was fresh, very flavorful, and I would definitely have that again. Our server was pleasant, and attentive, and professional. Prices are more than fair for the quality of food. I will be sure to come back next time I'm in town from Calgary. ”

Food was great - though some additional sauces and aolis added to the menu would be a bonus! “ In town for work and I happened upon this place searching for a breakfast spot to get some eggs benedict. I'm not a large breakfast eater so I got the single egg benny with shredded hash and it was pretty much as perfect as that meal can get. Perfectly soft poached egg with a beautiful golden yolk, delicious hollandaise, and a fresh chewy bun beneath the ham. Not sure how it could be improved without just over complicating it. Hash browns were just the right balance of soft and crispy, and the portion matched the meal so I didn't feel like I was eating a whole plate of potatoes. The server offered me a few quarters for free for the parking meter and made me feel welcome. I was happy to be there early on a weekday so it was nice and quiet, but I can tell this place must be packed on the weekends. This place is definitely on my radar, can't wait to come back another time to try out their lunch menu. ”
